IC 4247 is a spiral  dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Centaur in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 6 million light years from the Milky Way . 
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5124 , NGC 5126 , NGC 5135 , IC 4248 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 4, 1904 .
