IC 4234 is a barred spiral galaxy with an active galactic nucleus from Hubble type SBab in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky . It is estimated to be 462 million light years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5116 , IC 4230 , IC 4241 , IC 4244 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on June 11, 1895 .
