IC 4220 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 281 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5076 , NGC 5079 , NGC 5094 , IC 4217 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in July 1899 .
