IC 853 = IC 4205 is a ring-shaped bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 324 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 150,000 light years across.
The galaxies NGC 4987 and NGC 5001 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Edward Swift on June 8, 1890 .
