IC 4229 is a spiral radio galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 308 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 5095 and IC 4224 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in July 1899 .
