IC 4212 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is about 62 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 4981 and IC 4209 are located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in July 1899 .
