IC 4223 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type S in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 663 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 5059 , NGC 5071 , NGC 5075 , NGC 5080 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on April 12, 1899 by Guillaume Bigourdan .
