NGC 5059 is a 14.9 likes bright spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 653 million light years from the Milky Way and about 175,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5071 , NGC 5075 , NGC 5080 , IC 4223 .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on March 25, 1865 .
