NGC 5050 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0-a in the constellation Virgo in the northern sky . It has an apparent magnitude of 13.8 mag and is an estimated 261 million light years from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on April 30, 1864 .
