NGC 5071 is a 14.5 mag bright radio galaxy of the Hubble type S? in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 595 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 160,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5059 , NGC 5075 , NGC 5080 , IC 4223 .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on March 25, 1865 .
