NGC 5088 is a 12.6 likes bright spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 60 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 50,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5076 , NGC 5077 , NGC 5079 , NGC 5097 .

The object was discovered on April 18, 1855 by RJ Mitchell , an assistant to William Parsons .
