NGC 5097 is a 14.6 likes bright elliptical dwarf galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type E4 in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 102 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light-years across.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5070 , NGC 5077 , NGC 5079 , NGC 5088 .

It was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on June 3, 1886 .
