NGC 5093 is a 13.7 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 322 million light years away from the Milky Way and approximately 135,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 5083 .
The object was discovered on March 18, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "vF, S, lbM".
