NGC 5080 is a 13.6 mag bright, compact galaxy of the Hubble-type E? in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 290 million light years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5071 , NGC 5075 , NGC 5100 , IC 4223 .
The object was discovered on April 27, 1881 by Edward Singleton Holden .
