NGC 5107 is a 13.1 mag barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBcd in the constellation of the Hounds and about 45 million light years from the Milky Way.
It was discovered on March 17, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "vF, S, E nearly in the meridian".
