IC 4209 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is about 297 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 125,000 light years.
The galaxies NGC 4981 , NGC 4995 , IC 4212 are located in the same area of the sky .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2013bc was observed here.
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in July 1899 .
