IC 4217 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is an estimated 304 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5076 , NGC 5077 , NGC 5079 , IC 4220 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in July 1899 .
