IC 4896 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 466 million light years from the Milky Way and about 125,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on October 3, 1901 .
