IC 4906 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / SB0 in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is around 165 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 80,000 light years .
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 4905 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on August 14, 1901 .
