IC 4936 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBd in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 171 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 6860 , IC 4939 , IC 4951 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on August 15, 1901 .
