NGC 6902 = IC 4948 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Sagittarius on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 125 million light years from the Milky Way and about 210,000 light years in diameter.
Together with IC 4946 and PGC 64580 ( NGC 6902B ) it forms the small NGC 6902 group or LGG 434 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on September 2, 1836 (listed as an NGC object).
