NGC 6897 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SAB: (rs?) Bc: in the constellation Capricorn on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 262 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter . It probably forms a gravitationally bound pair with NGC 6898 .
The object was discovered by the astronomer Albert Marth on June 28, 1863.
