NGC 6909 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E5 in the constellation Telescopium the southern sky . It is estimated to be 123 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 6918 .
The object was discovered on July 1, 1834 by John Herschel .
