NGC 6889 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type SBbc in the pendulum clock in the southern sky . It is an estimated 111 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 4994 .
The object was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel on June 9, 1835.
