NGC 6870 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation telescope at the southern sky . It is estimated to be 131 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies NGC 6861 , NGC 6868 , IC 4943 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on July 7, 1834 .
