NGC 6854 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type I / SB0 in the constellation telescope at the southern sky . It is an estimated 253 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 150,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies NGC 6850 , IC 4933 , IC 4941 , IC 4944 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on July 9, 1834 .
