NGC 6916 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Swan in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 149 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2002cd was observed here.
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on June 26, 1887 .
