Andreyev played an ATP Tour tournament for the first time in September 2003 in Bucharest , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 against José Acasuso . When he reached the quarter-finals at the ATP tournament in Moscow in 2003, he made it into the top 100 players in the world with 97th place. He played his first ATP final in Gstaad in 2004 ; against world number one Roger Federer he could win a set but not the match.
On April 11, 2005 Andreyev finally won his first ATP title in Valencia . After defeating the favored Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals , he was also successful in the final against David Ferrer .
