Ilagan is both the seat of the provincial government and the most populous administrative municipality in Isabela Province in the Cagayan Valley District of the Philippines . The two rivers Cagayan and Abuluan converge in Ilagan . The city is also the cultural and economic center of the region. On May 21, 2012, the municipality was elevated to Component City.

As of August 1, 2015, it had 145,568 residents living in 91 barangays . Ilagan is the seat of the diocese of Ilagan . In Ilagan is the Fuyot Spring National Park , in Barangay Santa Victoria.
