Maconacon ( Filipino : Bayan ng Maconacon ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Isabela , Administrative Region II, Cagayan Valley. It has 4253 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who lived in 10 barangays . It is classified as a third income class community in the Philippines and as partially urbanized .
Maconacon is located in the northeast of the province, on the coast of the Philippine Sea . The municipality is located in the Sierra Madre massif . It is located 468 km north of Manila and can be reached via the Marhalika Highway , the Ilagan - Divilacan Road, but also by plane from Cauayan City . Their neighboring communities are San Pablo in the north, Cabagan in the west, and Divilacan in the south.
Maconacon is best known for its location in the Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park , which has been on the list of proposals for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2006 .
