In the shadow of the doctors is the second studio album by the German punk rock band Die Ärzte . It was released in 1985 and was the last album on which bassist Sahnie took part before he left the band a year later after a dispute with the other two members.

Singles were "You want to kiss me" and "Because of you", on the back of which the title "And I cry", which is not on the album, appeared.
For the maxi release of “Wegen dir”, Die Ärzte recorded the “tent camp mix”, on which Bela B. can be heard on the concert guitar. The single was produced by Micki Meuser , who also produced Ina Deter . As an allusion to this, Bela can be heard in the background, who absolutely wants to hear something from Ina Deter.
The songs “You want to kiss me” and “Buddy Holly's glasses”, for example, are still played by the band today. In 1985 Farin played a “distorted” guitar for the first time in the song “Käfer”.
The album reached number 53 in the German album charts and was awarded gold.

Trivia
In the Shadow of Doctors is the only publication of Die Doctors in which the band name is bent . Today this spelling is strictly rejected by the band.
Since the record actually only contained 12 songs at first, the band of "Wie ein Kind" put a reprise on the album to get 13 tracks.
"Run, not run!" be the album opener. This also explains the fanfare at the beginning of the piece, which can also be heard backwards after the last song "What kind of nerves does the boy have?" The record company put "You want to kiss me" at the beginning.
The bass line of "You want to kiss me" was not played by Micki Meuser , but by Lutz Fahrenkrog-Petersen, the brother of the Nena composer Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen .
