Industrias Eduardo Sal-Lari , IES for short , was an Argentinian manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Eduardo Sal-Lari founded the company in Mercedes in the province of Buenos Aires in 1982 . He took over a factory from Citroën and began producing automobiles. The brand name was initially Citroën , from 1983 IES . Production ended in 1990.

Initially, the company produced the Citroën 2 CV . From 1983 to 1985 this model was called IES 3 CV . A two - cylinder boxer engine with a 74 mm bore , 70 mm stroke , 602 cm³ displacement and 32 HP power drove the front wheels. With a wheelbase of 240 cm, the vehicles were 395 cm long, 148 cm wide and 168 cm high. The curb weight was given as 630 kg.
The model update led to the IES América model , which was offered from 1986 to 1987. The angular front headlights, which were integrated into the front fenders , were striking . The front indicators were also in the bumper .
Another facelift brought the IES Súper América in 1987 , which was offered until 1990, but largely corresponded to the América .

The IES Safari was a beach wagon that resembled the Citroën Méhari . It existed from 1984 to 1986. It had the same engine. With the same wheelbase, it was 380 cm long, 148 cm wide and 160 cm high.
The visually independent Gringa was available from 1987 to 1990 as a pick-up and panel van . The bore had been increased to 76 mm, which resulted in 635 cm³ displacement and 36 hp. With a wheelbase of 257 cm, the vehicles were 384 cm long, 153 cm wide and 149 cm (pick-up) high.
On this basis, the Gringo appeared in 1989 , which remained on offer until 1990. It was a multi-purpose car with a three-door station wagon body .
