Automotores 9 de Julio SA was an Argentinian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Buenos Aires company started producing automobiles in 1967 under the direction of Luis MG Varela. The brand name was Andino . Production ended in 1978. Other sources indicate 1973 differently. A total of around 100 vehicles were built.

It is not clear the connection to the brand Varela Luis Varela MG.

Andino

Sports cars were on offer as coupes . A central tubular frame formed the basis. A fiberglass body was mounted on top. Independent suspension is also mentioned. A four-cylinder engine of Renault was mounted in the rear.

The first version was in the range from 1967 to 1970. It was based on the Renault Dauphine . The four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 845 cm³ made 34  hp .

The second version from 1976 to 1978 had an engine from the Renault 12 with 1397 cc and 71 hp.

In addition, a model based on the Fiat 600 is named with the engine from the Fiat 600 or Fiat 128 . Another source confirms Fiat engines .

Varela

As Varela Renault there was a coupé with the four-cylinder engine from Renault with 845 cc from 1970 to 1971.

Between 1977 and 1980 there was the Varela Berlineta as a coupé. There was a choice between the engine from the Fiat 600 with 767 cm³ displacement and that of the Fiat 128 with 1116 cm³ displacement.
