Industrias del Transporte Automotor SRL was an Argentine manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Nilson Jose Bongiovanni and Eligio Oscar Bongiovanni founded the company in Río Cuarto in 1960 . They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Tinder . The sales plans amounted to 200 vehicles in the first year and 1,600 vehicles in 1964. 1962 ended production. Other sources give the construction period as 1959 to 1963 or as 1960 to 1963. A total of around 200 vehicles were built.

The only production model was a two-door, five-seat sedan in the middle class . The base was a tubular frame . A fiberglass body was mounted on top. The front and rear panoramic windows were striking . The front double headlights were arranged diagonally one above the other. The four - cylinder boxer engine was purchased from Porsche . It had 80 mm bore , 74 mm stroke , 1488 cm³ displacement and 58  hp . It was mounted in the rear and drove the rear wheels. With a wheelbase of 240 cm, the vehicles were 432 cm long, 154 cm wide and 149 cm high. The curb weight was given as 880 kg.

The 1960 Tinder Cupé remained a prototype . It had the same engine and was similar to the VW Karmann-Ghia as a coupe .

A 1:43 scale model car of the sedan has been available since 2016 .
