Industrias Platenses Automotrices SA was an Argentinian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Guillermo Leeds headed the company based in La Plata . The development of automobiles began in the 1950s. In December 1959 three vehicles were presented that had been extensively tested for years. Production started in 1960. The brand name was Ipam-Leeds , shortened to IPAM or Leeds in some sources . Depending on the source, production ran until 1961 or 1964. According to various sources, around 200 vehicles were built.

The only model was an amphibious vehicle . It was a cabin scooter with a front door and another door on the left. The body was made of metal and offered space for four people. A two-cylinder two - stroke engine from Villiers Ltd with 325 cm³ displacement and 18  hp was mounted in the rear. With a wheelbase of 170 cm and a track width of 135 cm (front) and 65 cm (rear), the vehicles were 320 cm long and 150 cm wide. The curb weight was given as 400 kg.
