Metalmecánica SAIC was an Argentine manufacturer of automobiles and scooters .

Company history

The company was founded in Buenos Aires in 1943 . 1957 began the production of motor scooters with the names Paperino and Superpaperino , of which tens of thousands were made. In 1959, automobiles were added, initially under license from BMW . The brand name was De Carlo . Another agreement with Simca from 1962 led to the start of production of a Simca model in 1965. Automobile production ended in 1966.

Automobiles

The first model called Minicar was only available in 1959. This was an open microcar. The production number is 798.

From 1959 to 1960 there was the 600 under license from the BMW 600 . A two - cylinder four-stroke engine with a 74 mm bore , 68 mm stroke , 585 cm³ displacement and 23  hp power propelled the vehicles. They had a wheelbase of 170 cm and were 290 cm long, 140 cm wide and 137.5 cm high. Of these, 1413 vehicles were built.

The BMW 700 was also assembled under license. The 700 Glamor as a two-door sedan was in the range from 1960 to 1963. The successor SL from 1964 to 1965 had a revised front. With a wheelbase of 212 cm, the vehicles were 354 cm long, 148 cm wide and 134.5 cm high. The 700 Coupé was only available in 1961. The air-cooled two-cylinder engine with a 78 mm bore, 73 mm stroke and 697 cm³ displacement developed 35 hp: a total of 9060 vehicles from this model series were built.

From the end of 1965 to 1966, 504 vehicles were built under license from the Simca Ariane . The model was named 1300 . The four-door sedan had a wheelbase of 269 cm, which is significantly larger than the other models. The vehicles were 452 cm long, 175.5 cm wide and 148 cm high. The four-cylinder engine with 74 mm bore, 75 mm stroke, 1290 cm³ displacement and 62 hp was mounted in the front of the vehicle and drove the rear wheels.
