The Innergschlöß is an alpine settlement in the Gschlößtal in the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol in Austria . Coordinates: 47 ° 7 '  N , 12 ° 27'  E

location

The Innergschlöß lies in a side valley of the Tauern valley at 1689  m above sea level. A. shortly before the head of the valley , which is advertised as the most beautiful head of the valley in the Eastern Alps . To the east and thus further down in the valley of the Gschlößbach is the Aussergschlöß settlement . About five kilometers down the valley behind the confluence of the Tauernbach is the Matreier Tauernhaus below the Felbertauern tunnel south portal.

getting there

A hiking trail leads from the Matreier Tauernhaus via Aussergschlöß to Innergschlöß. On the other side of the brook there is a driveway that is only open to taxis, the slow train and the horse-drawn carriage.

The Inn Venedigerhaus , a wood carving workshop and many other alpine huts, which are inhabited by locals from Matrei in summer, are located in the Innergschlöß . Some of the alpine pastures are also rented out to tourists. The Innergschlöß is not inhabited from November to April. Occasionally, however, ski tourers find their way into this snowy high valley on the ascent to Großvenediger.

In a building from 1940 at the entrance to Innergschlöß, a cooperative of 25 East Tyrolean farmers set up an alpine dairy for the production and marketing of cheese, milk and butter in 2017.
