The 1979 Women's International Tennis Championships in Germany were a women's clay court tournament in West Berlin . They took place on the grounds of the LTTC Rot-Weiß Berlin at Hundekehlesee . For the first time, these championships were held separately from the men with whom they had previously mostly been held in Hamburg since 1896.

The tournament was part of the Grand Prix Circuit set up by the ITF .

The singles final won the unseeded American Caroline Stoll against Regina Maršíková with 7: 6 and 6: 0. In doubles, the pairing Rosie Casals / Wendy Turnbull defeated Evonne Cawley and Kerry Reid 6: 2 and 7: 5 in the final . Due to a thunderstorm, this game could only be ended on Monday.
