Iris Laufenberg
Iris Laufenberg (* 1966 in Cologne ) is a German dramaturge and theater director . In the 2015/2016 season she took over the management of the Schauspielhaus Graz .
Live and act
Laufenberg studied "Drama, Theater and Media" at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . At the Schauspiel Bonn she worked from 1991 to 1997 as a member of the artistic direction and acting dramaturgy. In 1997 Iris Laufenberg moved to the Bremen theater as a member of the artistic direction and dramaturge . In 1996 she worked as curator and organization director of the European festival Bonner Biennale , for which she was artistic director from 2001 to 2002.
Berlin theater meeting
From 2003 to 2011 Iris Laufenberg was director of the Theatertreffen festival at the Berliner Festspiele .
Concert Theater Bern
From 2012 to 2015 she was acting director at the Konzert Theater Bern and was responsible for the content orientation of the drama at the four-division house of the Bern City Theater. In addition to teaching the classical repertoire, she focused on new European drama and received invitations to the Mülheimer Theatertage (2013 and 2014), the Heidelberger Stückemarkt and the Berliner Autorentheatertage (both 2013).
Schauspielhaus Graz
Iris Laufenberg led the Schauspielhaus Graz into the ETC ( European Theater Convention ). At the Schauspielhaus Graz, in addition to interpreting classics, she also focused on contemporary drama, for example the production Lupus in Fabula was invited to the Autorentheatertage in Berlin in 2016 and to the Heidelberg Stückemarkt in 2016 as part of the “NachSpielPreis”. The opening ceremony Merlin or The Waste Land by Tankred Dorst has performed at the International May Festival at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden . The production Trümmerfrauen, bombing mood was invited to Bolzano and Merano in 2017. The audience there honored this production with the Finstral Audience Award as the “best performance of all guest performances shown in the 2016/17 season”.
Laufenberg's artistic team includes not only her lead dramaturge Karla Mäder and artistic director Georg Kandolf, but also well-known directors such as Mina Salehpour , Anita Vulesica , Alexander Eisenach , Suna Gürler , Nikolaus Habjan , Bernd Mottl , Christina Tscharyiski , Michael Schilhan , Lily Sykes , Neville Tranter , Claudia Bauer , Volker Hesse , Helmut Köpping , Bernadette Sonnenbichler , Markus Bothe, Sandy Lopicic , Jan-Christoph Gockel and Stephan Rottkamp . Prominent actors such as Barbara Petritsch , Margarethe Tiesel , Babett Arens , Johannes Silberschneider and Nikolaus Habjan work again and again at the Schauspielhaus Graz.
Iris Laufenberg's first season brought two nominations for the Schauspielhaus Graz for the Austrian Nestroy Theater Prize . Julia Graefner received the award in the category of best youngsters in 2016 for the portrayal of Caliban in William Shakespeare's Der Sturm . Furthermore, the production Kasimir und Karoline (directed by Dominic Friedel) was nominated in the category Best Federal State Performance. "The assignment: Danton's death" based on Heiner Müller and Georg Büchner , directed by Jan-Christoph Gockel, won the Nestroy Prize 2017 in the category "Best State Performance".
During her third season in Graz, Laufenberg's contract as managing director was extended prematurely for another three years until 2023.
On November 24, 2019, the film and theater project The Revolution Eats Your Children! by Jan-Christoph Gockel and Ensemble im Theater an der Wien awarded the Nestroy Prize 2019 in the category Best Federal State Performance .
