The Italian Three Cushion Championship is the Italian national championship in the three- cushion carom discipline . It is organized by the national association Federazione Italiana Biliardo Sportivo (FIBIS). The winner is qualified for the three-cushion European championship. It has been held annually since the 1974/75 season, with a few exceptions.
history
The first Italian three-cushion championship was held for the 1963/64 season, the winner was Antonio Oddo , who, after Marco Zanetti , is the second most successful player with 12 gold medals. Oddo (* 1939, Palermo ) earned this over a long period of 44 years, most recently in 2007 at the age of 68. Marco Zanetti from Bolzano , son of the two-time silver medalist Erwin Zanetti, won his first gold medal in 1978 and has a total of 29 victories by 2019, of which since 2008 without interruption.

Tournament statistics and game modes
In the early years it was customary to play the entire tournament in round robin mode with a small number of participants . Later, with the growing number of participants, this could no longer be kept in terms of time and it has been played in the final round in the knockout system . If the game was initially played at a distance from the game, the unpopular sentence system was used at the end of the 1980s, but shortly after the turn of the millennium it was abolished in favor of the distance from the game, but this time with a limited number of recordings. Only the general average (GD) of the winner is known.
