Jaws 2 (Jaws 2) is an American horror film by Jeannot Szwarc from the year 1978th

action

Four years have passed since the giant great white shark struck Amity's waters. Two divers are attacked on the wreck of the Orca . The lost diving camera is found later in the film. As the third victim, a water skier is attacked by the shark. The boat is also attacked, but it explodes before the boat operator can be killed by the shark.

A horribly wounded orca with huge bite wounds is found on the beach by the lighthouse . Here now police chief Martin Brody finally creeps the terrible suspicion that a new great white shark is making the waters off Amity Island unsafe. He constantly watches the waters; His presence on a watchtower alone makes the mayor - who fears that tourists will be deterred - restless. After Brody hits a false positive shooting a school of blue fish , he is fired by the local council in a night session.

A group of teenagers, including Brody's two sons, Michael and Sean, take a boat trip to the lighthouse. The teenagers are attacked by the shark. Michael is almost killed in the process. The destroyed boats are drifting towards Cable Junction. There Brody finds her with the police boat. Brody takes position near a power cable running through the water. He hits the cable with an oar, provoking the shark, which bites the cable and is killed by the electric current.

Locations

Some of the filming took place on Martha's Vineyard Island . The city of Edgartown served as the backdrop for Amity . Much of the beach scenes were filmed in Navarre, Florida . The island Cable Junction does not actually exist, but was shown for the film by means of superstructures on a barge.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was "dramaturgically less sophisticated" compared to its predecessor. The horror effects are "superficial"; only the music creates tension.

Individual evidence

  1. In the original version, a passer-by shouts "It's just a school of bluefish! Just bluefish!" ("It's just a shoal of blue fish! Only blue fish!"), The German version lacks the word "swarm" and the passer-by just shouts "It's a blue fish!"
