Jay Tuck (actually Jay Nelson Tuck, Jr .; born April 25, 1945 in Brooklyn , New York ) is a US security expert, journalist , television producer , book author , advertising speaker and public speaker.

Life

In his 35 years with German television , Tuck was an investigative reporter ( NDR- Panorama , WDR- Monitor ), war correspondent ( Tagesschau ) and managing editor ( ARD Tagesthemen ). Today he is the author, keynote speaker and CEO of Airtime Dubai Ltd , an international media company with close contacts in the Arab world. Childhood and youth

Jay Nelson Tuck, Jr. was born in Brooklyn , New York to newspaper journalist Jay Nelson Tuck. He attended Wayne High School in New Jersey and then studied at Antioch College in Ohio , where he made his first student films ( The Date and Short Circuit ). During his studies, he also held student jobs at the US Treasury Department , the Federal Cartel Office in Washington, DC and as a social worker in Harlem . He began his journalistic career as a 20-year-old radio reporter for the university's FM station.

He completed his studies in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics .

First years of employment

After graduation, he was hired by Oscar winner Richard Kaplan for the feature film King - From Montgomery To Memphis, about the life of Martin Luther King . The film, which later screened in 1,000 US cinemas simultaneously, was nominated for an Oscar in the documentary category. Jay Tuck was then hired by CBS News in New York as a production assistant.

Alternative service in Europe

As a recognized US conscientious objector during the Vietnam War , he moved to Germany in 1969, where he did his alternative civilian service in youth work in Hamburg for two years . During this time Tuck made various amateur films, including Good Day with the rock group Nektar .

ARD television journalist

He began his German TV career in 1971 as a local reporter for Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). Jay Tuck was employed by NDR as a permanent journalist until 2003, initially as an investigative reporter for NDR Panorama and WDR Monitor, and later as a war correspondent for the ARD Tagesschau in two Gulf wars . For twelve years, he was the editor in charge of ARD Tagesthemen . Jay Tuck has produced over 600 reports and documentaries in 35 years at German television.

This was followed by documentary broadcasts for 3Sat, MDR, N24, ZDF, ZDFinfo, ZDFkultur and for the National Geographic Channel.

He also wrote "The Computer Spies", a non-fiction thriller about computer smuggling with NATO technology. After retiring from ARD in 2002, Jay Tuck worked for Airtime Dubai Ltd. in the United Arab Emirates . , an international media company with close ties to the Arab TV stations in the region. His technology magazine Understanding Tomorrow (عن كثب) was broadcast weekly on Al-Jazeera (Arabic) for around 40 million viewers for five years . He continues to produce documentary programs for German TV stations such as 3sat, ARD, MDR, N24, Phoenix, ZDF, ZDFinfo, ZDFkultur and for the National Geographic Channel.

In his spare time Jay Tuck is a long-distance runner and in 2000 became the first American to run in the extreme temperatures of the "Sibirian Ice Marathon" in Omsk . Jay Tuck is the father of three daughters and one son. He lives in Hamburg with his wife Heidi (née Stigge).
