Jodłów is located in the Glatzer Schneegebirge on the upper Glatzer Neisse , which rises below the 1145 m high rattle stones ( Trójmorski Wierch ). Neighboring towns are: Potoczek in the south, Pisary and Boboszów in the southwest, Szklarnia in the west and Goworów and Michałowice in the northwest. To the northeast rises the Little Snow Mountain ( Śnieżnik Mały ). The border with the Czech Republic runs over the ridge of the mountains.

history

Thanndorf was created in 1575 on cleared forest land and was initially called Tannendorf . It belonged to the Habelschwerdter district in the Glatzer Land , with which it shared the history of its political and ecclesiastical affiliation. It was initially subject to the Mittelwalde rulership and came to the Schönfeld rulership in 1610 after the von Tschirnhaus brothers had inherited the estate . This came in 1648 to Michael Ferdinand von Althann , who already owned the dominions of Mittelwalde and Wölfelsdorf . He built with imperial permission from the dominions Schonfeld, Mittelwalde and Woelfel village a primogeniture , which remained until 1945 owned by the family of Althann.

At the end of the 17th century, some miners dug for gold near the Neißmühle with little success. After the Silesian Wars , Thanndorf and the County of Glatz came to Prussia in 1763 with the Peace of Hubertusburg . Evidence for the beginning of the 19th century is as follows: a branch church, a rectory, a school building, a hereditary slaughterhouse, two watermeal mills, 37 farmers and 106 gardeners , cottagers and other jobs. The population was 658.

After the reorganization of Prussia, Thanndorf belonged to the province of Silesia from 1815 and was initially incorporated into the district of Glatz. On January 24, 1818, it was reclassified to the Habelschwerdt district , to which it belonged until 1945. From the middle of the 19th century it developed into a resort. In 1939 there were 498 inhabitants.

As a result of the Second World War , Thanndorf fell to Poland in 1945, like almost all of Silesia, and was renamed Goworów . The German population was expelled. Some of the new residents were displaced from eastern Poland . Until 1975 Jodłów belonged to the powiat bystrzycki. 1975-1998 it belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship ( Waldenburg ).

Church affiliation

Thanndorf initially had no church of its own and was parish in Schönfeld . Around 1590, the then Lutheran residents of Thanndorf and Neißbach built a wooden church with the permission of the landlord. After the recapture of the County of Glatz by the imperial troops, the inhabitants returned to the Catholic faith, and Thanndorf became a branch of the parish church of Mittelwalde. After the parish of Schönfeld was reestablished in 1637, Thanndorf ( together with Lauterbach and Neundorf ) again came there as a branch. A stone church was built on the site of the wooden church. Because of the great distance to Schönfeld, Thanndorf received a chaplain in 1754. Two years later a larger church was built, to which the villages of Altbach and Neuneißbach were dedicated. From 1911 Thanndorf became an independent parish, which also included Neißbach and a part of Neundorf. Today the branch churches Boboszów and Pisary, formerly parish to Mittelwalde, also belong to the parish of Jodłów.

Attractions

The parish church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1756 in the Baroque style. The furnishing of the same style dates from the second half of the 18th century. The sculptures of Saints Anna, Zacharias, Maria and Joseph were created around 1756 by Michael Klahr the Younger. The high altar was redesigned around 1895 by Aloys Schmidt from Bad Landeck . The ceiling painting was created by Ludwig Richter from Landeck in 1908/09.
