Career

Joel Ward, whose father is from the Barbados , began his career as a hockey player in the Ontario Hockey League , in which he played from 1997 to 2001 for a total of four years. First he was active three seasons for the Owen Sound Platers , then another season for their successor team, the Owen Sound Attack . The 2000/01 season he ended, however, in the West Coast Hockey League , where he came in the playoffs to eight missions for the Long Beach Ice Dogs .

After he was active for four years for the ice hockey team of the University of Prince Edward Island , the Houston Eros signed him from the American Hockey League on December 4, 2005 as a free agent . For the Eros he made his professional ice hockey debut in the 2005/06 season . After a year in Houston, the winger was signed on September 27, 2006 by the Minnesota Wild , whose farm team is the Houston Eros. In the 2006/07 season , Joel Ward played a total of eleven games in the National Hockey League and scored an assist.

The 2007/08 season Ward spent exclusively in the AHL with the Eros, so the Nashville Predators signed the attacker on July 14, 2008 as a free agent.

On July 1, 2011, he signed a four-year contract with the Washington Capitals . This was not renewed, so he joined the San Jose Sharks in July 2015 . He was active there until the end of the 2017/18 season when his contract was not extended. After a trial contract with the Canadiens de Montréal before the 2018/19 season did not result in a permanent engagement, Ward ended his active career. In total, he had played 809 NHL games and recorded 356 points scorer .

International

With the Canadian national team , Ward took part in the 2014 World Cup in the Belarusian capital Minsk , where he finished fifth with the team. He himself was able to collect nine scorer points in eight tournament games. There were six gates below.
