Johann Franz von Kopp

Johann Franz von Kopp (born October 17, 1775 in Drawa, Filehne district , † July 9, 1849 in Driesen ) was a Prussian major general .

His parents were the owner of the Koppenhof Michael von Kopp and his wife Hedwig, née Hanisch.

Military career

Kopp visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . On July 30, 1792 he joined the Dragoon Regiment "von Wylich and Lottum" of the Prussian Army as a non-commissioned officer . He fought with the regiment in the First Coalition War in the battle of Kaiserslautern and the battles near Zweibrücken and Kirchheim. By the end of August 1798, Kopp was promoted to second lieutenant . As such, he took part in the battles near Erfurt , Gadebusch and Criewen during the Fourth Coalition War. He was captured in the battle near Ratzeburg , but was released on November 12, 1806 on his word of honor . After the Peace of Tilsit , Kopp received his departure on December 8, 1807 with the right to wear his army uniform. In addition, it was the January 24, 1808 on character as captain awarded and issued a benevolent testimony.

On July 17, 1813, Kopp came to Driesen in the Neumark as a district officer in the gendarmerie . In this position he received the patent for his rank on June 7, 1815 . On March 3, 1821, he was transferred to the 3rd Gendarmerie Brigade in Sorau as department commander and promoted to major on March 30, 1831 with a patent from April 2, 1831 . On September 14, 1836, he was appointed brigadier of the 4th Landgendarmerie Brigade. In this capacity he rose to lieutenant colonel on October 19, 1841 , was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III on November 12, 1843 . Awarded a ribbon in the class and promoted to colonel on March 30, 1844 . On December 12, 1846, Kopp received his retirement and retirement after being given the character of major general . He died on July 9, 1849 in Driesen.

Kopp married Karoline Eleonore von Lossow († 1823) in 1808 . The couple had several children:

He then married Hanne Luise Hundt (1800-1859). The couple had the following children:
