Johann Peter von Delpons , also Johann Peter von Delpont , originally Jean Pierre d'Elpons (born April 20, 1732 in Languedoc , † September 19, 1807 in Neisse ) was a Prussian colonel and chief of a free battalion .

Life

Origin and family

Career

d'Elpons had been in French service for at least 14 years, most recently as a lieutenant , before he was captured in the Battle of Rossbach in 1757 . On May 1, 1761, he joined the Prussian Army as captain of Kleist's Croatian Corps . With the dissolution of his unit in 1763 after the end of the Seven Years' War , he moved to the "le Noble" garrison regiment as a staff captain . There he received a on January 1, 1769 company . After he advanced to major in 1778, in December he took over the free battalion "von Steinmetz" , which had been vacant in the Bavarian War of Succession since November 24, 1778 . After the peace treaty, this unit was also dissolved and Delpons concluded his career as a colonel in the depot battalion of the infantry regiment "Margrave Heinrich" .
