John II (Olomouc)

Johannes II. (Also: Johann II. , Jan II .; † 1126 ) was Bishop of Olomouc .

After the death of the Olomouc bishop Peter I in 1104, John II was appointed his successor. Nothing is known about its origin. During his tenure, he acquired the village of Kremsier from the Moravian Duke Otto II , which developed as an episcopal estate into an episcopal town over the next few decades.

In the Olomouc bishop's chronicle "Granum cathalogi praesulum Moraviae" from the 15th century, Bishop John II is recorded with the nickname "Břichatý" ( fat man ).
