Albrecht von Březí (Czech: Aleš z Březí ; † probably 1443) was Elekt of Olomouc and Bishop of Leitomischl .

Life

Albrecht belonged to the circle of King Wenceslaus IV. He is documented as a canon of the Vyšehrad monastery for 1413 and later as dean there. In 1416 a minority of the Olomouc cathedral chapter elected him as the successor to Bishop Wenceslaus Králik of Buřenice . The Prague Archbishop Konrad von Vechta confirmed the election, although the majority elected opposing candidate Johannes XII. von Bucca was commissioned by the Council of Constance with the administration of Olomouc.

With the support of the king, Albrecht was initially able to assert himself in his position. He occupied Mürau Castle and, with military help, reached Olomouc, where the cathedral chapter was dissolved. After Albrecht, in the presence of Hussite priests, St. Having celebrated Mass, Pope Martin V appointed the opposing candidate Johannes von Bucca ( the Iron ) bishop of Olomouc in 1418 .

Although King Wenceslas died in 1419, Albrecht was appointed bishop of Litomysl in 1420, but could not stay there long. When the city was besieged by the Hussites in 1421, he fled and never returned.
