Engelbert of Brabant

Engelbert von Brabant († December 18, 1199 ) was Bishop of Olomouc .

According to tradition, Engelbert came from Brabant and was probably the archdeacon of Olomouc. The Duke of Bohemia and also Bishop of Prague Heinrich Břetislav probably appointed him Bishop of Olomouc in 1194. According to the Moravian Chronicle, his episcopal ordination is said to have taken place in Eger .

Little is known about his brief tenure. In 1196 he was mentioned as a witness in a document, in 1197 he consecrated the new monastery church in Gradisch . The papal legate Peter commissioned him to ordain priests .

After Heinrich Břetislav's death in 1197 Engelbert was administrator of the diocese of Prague until the appointment of Bishop Daniel II (Milík) .
