Wilhelm (* before 1233; † 1263 at the earliest) was Elekt von Olmütz .

Life

Nothing is known about Wilhelm's origin. He had a master's degree , was Canon of Olomouc and held the position of notary at the court of King Wenceslaus I from 1233-1240 . After the death of Bishop Robert of Olomouc , the cathedral chapter chose him as his successor in 1241, but the Archbishop of Mainz made Siegfried von Eppstein , to whose ecclesiastical province the Moravian Olomouc belonged, exercised his right of occupation and appointed and consecrated Konrad von Friedberg as Bishop of Olomouc with the consent of King Wenceslas .

Since King Wenzel also agreed to the appointment of Conrad, the cathedral chapter did not succeed in getting its candidate Wilhelm through. After Pope Innocent IV was able to persuade Wilhelm to resign at the First Council of Lyon in 1245 , Wilhelm was the notary of the margrave from 1249 to 1262 and, from 1253, the Bohemian King Ottokar II Přemysl .

Wilhelm is mentioned for the last time in 1263, the year of his death and his place of burial are not known.
